WOOD FIBRE INSULATION

Why we think wood fibre is the best natural insulation available.

A well insulated house clearly improves your comfort and lifestyle and with STEICO insulating materials you can enjoy your own four walls even more.

In the winter, STEICO wood fibre insulating materials provide a comfortable climate. The natural insulating materials enclose the house like a protecting winter coat and hold the valuable warmth inside the property. In a well insulated house the interior temperature of walls and furnishings automatically increases. This effect is immediately noticeable:

Improved well-being: Evenly warm walls deliver more radiant heat. Because people find radiant heat particularly pleasant, it is frequently possible to lower the actual ambient temperature without reducing the internal comfort. This leads to the positive side effect that reducing the ambient temperature by one degree means approximately a 5% energy cost saving.

Effective protection against mould: The humidity in the air will only condense on a cold wall, by creating warm walls, this condensation is eliminated. Without damp patches mould is unable to grow. Mould is avoided from the outset.

Less air movement: Draughts caused by convection can be unpleasant. The air cools down at non-insulated, external walls, falls to the ground and flows to the centre of the room where it warms up and ascends again. This does not occur with well insulated buildings. The cooling effect is reduced or eliminated. If the air is still, we do not feel these draughts and less dust is disturbed, providing positive side effects, particularly for allergy sufferers.

Insulation for the future

Steico Flex is an eco-friendly highly versatile wood fibre insulation product used for a wide variety of uses such as insulation in pitched roofs, attic insulation, partition walls, services zones, drywall and ceiling construction.

The self-supporting friction fit batts are perfect for any application between stud work horizontally, vertically or at an angle.

Sound insulation

Steico Flex has not been tested for sound absorption but customer feedback shows that it does act as a very good sound insulation. This is because sound travels in straight lines. As Steico Flex heat insulation batts are made with wood fibre insulation of various strand sizes, when sound enters the batt, it bounces around between the different size strands, thereby reducing the amount of sound coming out the far side..

My sons and myself suffer from glass-wool allergy. We couldn’t go into the areas of our house that had it, as just a small exposure would trigger reaction. RJM Homes have removed the glass-wool for us and replaced it with wood fibre insulation that doesn’t trigger reaction. We no longer live in fear of allergic reaction in our own home.
